What a Weekend
Overview
After a very long weekend, we at Ashaway have a few last things to mention about the BUCS Badminton Individual Championships that took place on the 16-18th February. Firstly, as always, the BUCS event staff were exceptional, and the tournament ran smoothly and there were no issues at all, they were extremely helpful and gave us a pleasant reminder of how proud we are to sponsor an event and how fortunate we are to have this partnership.
Ashaway had a strong representation across all disciplines, with a strong group of players that were as follows; Farid Akroum, Henley Ngan, Josh Neil, Emma Cook, Scott Oates, Andy Oates & Ben Wheatley. Emma was the only player to come away with a medal, which was a bronze in the women’s doubles, but this doesn’t take away from the performance of our Ashaway players. Josh Neil & Emma Cook had a very close encounter with the number 4 seeds and eventual runners up losing in three sets. Henley Ngan also had a very close encounter in the Men’s Singles losing out narrowly to the eventual winner of the competition.
Farid Akroum reached the quarter finals of the men’s doubles just missing out on a medal. There was a very keen interest in the new range of Ashaway rackets, however, if you want to look at what our ashaway players are using here is a list below;
Josh Neil – Phantom X-Speed II
Henley Ngan – Phantom X-Speed II
Farid Akroum – Phantom X-Fire II
Ben Wheatley – Phantom X-Speed
Andy Oates – Phantom Superlight
Scott Oates – Phantom X-Fire
Emma Cook – Superlight Phantom
We would just like to say huge congratulations to all of our players that played this weekend as they all represented the brand with great professionalism and pride. A massive thank you and congratulations to the event staff and volunteers that help make the event such an enjoyable experience for all players, coaches and spectators.
We can’t wait to be back next year and if you have any queries about anything you have read, please feel free to contact us at; goodesport@ashaway.co.uk or call us on 01707321397.
